Gangtey trek is the simplest treks ranging from Phobjik. The trek will be full of the attractive depression of Black-necked cranes through scenic landscapes of Gogona and Khotokha valleys on colorful magnolia and bush trees. It is a brief trek at comparatively low elevations, that visits many remote villages.
Gangtey trek is to the attractive Phobjikha natural valley (3,000m), one amongst the few glacial valleys in Bhutan, that lies within the mountains east of Wangduephodrang. The village of Phobjikha lies many kilometers down from the cloister, on the natural depression floor. This quiet, remote natural depression is that the chosen winter home of the rare black-necked cranes, UN agency migrate here annually from the Tibetan highland. This moderate trek visits the villages of Gogona and Khotokha, passing through meadows and fields, then forests of juniper, magnolia, and rhododendrons fully bloom in the Gregorian calendar month. It’s a brief trek at comparatively low elevations, that visits many remote villages. You will closely observe the traditional capital of Bhutan. Visit a historical place of Punakha Dzong, winter seat of the Je Khenpo and also the Monk Body.
Suitable month for Gangtey Trek
Visiting the remote area can be done in every season or month. When you visit place and get chance to know new thing and get the new experience is the best time. The best months for Gangtey Trek are April and early May. During this time the weather will be good and rhododendrons are in full bloom.
Although you can trek there in every month, do not trek during July and August. During these months there may be the chance of rainfall, Strome. Due to which you have to stay at home or hotel and you may waste your time.
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Paro.
Day 2 Thimphu - Gangtey.
Day 3 Gangtey Gompa - Gogona.
Day 4 Gogona - Khotokha.
Day 5 Khotokha - Chazam/Wangduephodrang.
Day 6 WangduePhodrang and Punakha Sightseeing.
Day 7 Wangduephodrang to Paro.
Day 8 Paro Sightseeing.
Day 9 Paro Departure.
Trip Includes
- All ground transport in a private vehicle including airport transfers.
- 3-star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu with breakfast.
- Kathmandu city tours, including all entry fees, tour guide and private transportation.
- Three daily meals with tea/coffee (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the trek.
