Highlights of Helumbu Trek

Due to the lower elevations, ranging between 800m and 3600m, offering less climbing as well as warmer temperatures this trek is comparatively easy. This trek starts off in the lush tropical forest, taking you through pristine rhododendron forests to the high views. You can also add on the diversion up through forests to the famous Gosainkunda Lake. Furthermore,  you can return by the same route or going over the Lauribina pass and down through Helambu. One can view the most beautiful Himalayan range such a Langtang, Shisapangma, Dorjee Lakpa, Gaurishankar, Khangchhumu and Range of Everest very far away. The Helambu trek includes a climb up the lush forests of Shivapuri National Park. Furthermore, the trail passes through scenic rural villages surrounded by fields and regal Buddhist monasteries with the tranquil landscape. We will pass through spectacular villages of Chisapani, Kutumsang, and Sermathang with their stunning panoramic views. The trek ends at the Melamchi Pul Bazar in the Helambu region. One can also get an opportunity to visit the famous Milarepa cave near Tarkeghyang.

Best time to travel

The best season for the Helambu trekking is autumn (mid-Sept to mid-Dec) and spring (March to May). The weather is sunny and warm, with outstanding views but the nights are cold and can fall to freezing. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is also good for trekking in this region.

 

Itinerary


Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu - (1,300m/4,264 ft).

Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation for the Trek.

Day 3 Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani (2300m/7544 ft): Drive 1 hour, Trek: 4 hours.

Day 4 Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m/8022ft): 7 hours.

Day 5 Trek from Kutumsang to Thadepati (3650m/11972ft): 6 hours.

Day 6 Trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m/8397ft): 6 hours.

Day 7 Trek to Sermathang (2,610m/8,563ft): 3/4 hours.

Day 8 Trek to Malemchi Puul Bazaar: Drive to Kathmandu: 3/4 hours trek/ 2 hours drive.

Day 9 Farewell Friend.
