Langtang Valley Trek, also known as “The Valley of Glaciers” is one of the pleasant walks in the Himalayas which takes you to the beautiful Himalaya region of Langtang. The pleasant walk offers astounding views of mountains above 7000m like Langtang Lirung (7,200m), Ganesh Himal (7,600m) and Langtang-II (7,227m). This trail also offers splendid views of snow-capped Himalayan ranges. Including Tserko Ri (5033m), Ganchhenpo (6388m), Kyanjin RI, Laure Binayak pass (4,609m) and Dorje Lakpa (6990m). In addition, one can view alpine meadows and yak pastures, majestic waterfalls, moraine glaciers, green pastureland, mountain rivers, rocky patches with a mild climatic condition of the Langtang Valley.
There are many myths regarding the name Langtang. The valley is said to be discovered when a person was looking for his lost yak. It was named Langtang, where Lang means yak and tang means follow in the Tibetan language. With its picturesque landscapes, moderate climate, easy trails and traditional lifestyles. Langtang valley is really one of the gems of Himalayan country, Nepal, which take you off the bitten track into the valley of a hardy untouched people. Furthermore, one can experience the unique cultural practice influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.
Highlights of Langtang Valley Trek
This region is high and wild as any of the Tibetan highlands with tranquil rural landscapes. You attain an unbeatable trekking experience with the landmarks of Langtang region: panoramic Himalayan views, Tibetan influenced culture, diverse flora, and fauna, innocent people, along with magnificent monasteries. This trekking experience takes us through the journey to have a glimpse of high mountains of the region, the beautiful Helambu valley, and the holy Gosainkunda Lake, along with the extraordinary wildlife of the Langtang National Park.
The last destination of this trekking is Kyanjin Gompa. You visit ancient Buddhist monastery and glaciers in Langtang. The area is famous for its pleasant local, unique tradition, Buddhist monasteries, and monuments. In addition, we also get to visit a cheese factory. The cheese produced from this factory is a well-known fineness all over the country. Furthermore, this exceptional area is thrilling, culturally rich and traditionally fascinating close to Tibetan border.
Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft).
Day 2 Kathmandu: sightseeing and trek preparation.
Day 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m/5,100ft): 7-8 hours.
Day 4 Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380m/7,830ft): 6 hours.
Day 5 Trek to Mundu (3543m/11,621ft) via Langtang village: 6-7 hours.
Day 6 Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft): 4-5 hours.
Day 7 Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri (5000m/16,404ft): 7-8 hours.
Day 8 Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours.
Day 9 Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi: 4-5 hours.
Day 10 Syabrubesi to Kathmandu.
Day 11 Final departure.
