Mardi Himal Trek is the fantastic short and spectacular trip in the Annapurna region. It is located just east of one of the most legendary trekking destination of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Mardi Himal trek is an unseen gem which covers some of the hidden landscape of the Annapurna and breathtaking glacial valleys.
The path leads you to the base of Mardi Himal and the stunning Machapuchhre (Fishtail). In addition, you will come across an impressive landscape walking along the hidden trails in the Annapurna region. The trail goes along small winding paths, miraculous rhododendron forest until you climb out of the forest at an elevation of around 3,300 meters. The entire Annapurna range is visible from this points.
Mardi Himal the lowest and perhaps the least visited of the trekking peaks in Nepal. The landscape changes quite abruptly into a rugged high mountain landscape. One can see the amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. The paths lead you through verdant forests, magnolia-pines, oak trees, interesting villages, terraced farms, dazzling rivers and the extraordinary views of the mountains.
The best part of the trek that you will use homestay instead of fancy hotels. There are small teahouse and lodges along the route, which provides very simple facilities. Away from the busy trails of the region, Mardi Himal takes off ‘the beaten path’. It goes through the old stone built villages and finally, at 3,580 m, you will reach the highest point which offers astonishing views of mountains.
Best time for Mardi Himal Trek
Autumn (Sept-Nov) and Spring (March-May) are the best seasons for the Mardi Himal Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature then taking this trip during winter could also be an option.
