Upper Dolpo Trekking route is a remote and unspoiled region. It lies between the Tibetan plateau and the Dhaulagiri ranges.  That is why the customs and traditions here are quite similar to those of Tibet. Dolpo is a region of mystical beauty. Spectacular landscape, isolated villages of Ringmo, mesmerizing Shey Phoksundo lake,  and the centuries-old monasteries are the main highlights of this trek. Dolpo is the most beautiful and least developed district of Nepal. So, travelers have rarely visited this area because of high passes trail. It is one of the restricted trekking regions of Nepal. It’s required a special permit. This upper Dolpo region preserves one of the last remnants of traditional Tibetan culture where the pre-Buddhist Bon-Po religion is still in practice. This trek brings you to Shey Gompa, which is spiritual heart of Upper Dolpo.

Upper Dolpo trekking adds the sense of adventure among its visitors. This is quite a strenuous trek. You have to cross three high passes, Nagdalo La (5350 m), the Shey La (5010 m) and Jeng La (5220 m). Nepal’s first English subtitle movie and Oscar-nominated Himalaya or Caravan were also shot in this region. The people of this region mostly speak Tibetan languages. Rarely some people can understand the Nepali language. Eventually, you can hear prayer flag fluttering at the top of the pass, and the view opens up dramatically looking east towards the snow peaks of the Kanjiroba and majestic Dhaulagiri range. In addition, Hundreds of pilgrims travelers every year visit upper Dolpo region to circuit holy mountain called “Crystal Mountain”.
